Pasadena Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.
2020 has been hard enough; think before you drink this New Year’s Eve.
According to NHTSA the (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), 29% of all traffic fatalities in 2018 involved at least one driver who had been over the legal limit, which is an estimated one alcohol-impaired-driving fatality every 50 minutes. That number is 3.4 times higher at night than during the day.
So before you go out, make sure to have a plan. There are numerous ride-sharing services, sober ride programs, and safe alternative modes of transportation available, including designating a driver for the ride home. Just remember to plan while you still can.
