Brian Babin, representing Texas’ 36th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, communicated various facets of his legislative agenda and political viewpoints in a series of tweets over a two-day period. His statements covered diverse topics from religious advocacy to maritime commerce and policies related to science and space.
On April 25, Babin expressed support for a government “that stands up for Christians,” extending thanks to the President in his tweet: “It’s about time we had a government that stands up for Christians instead of targeting us. Thank you, @POTUS!”
The following day, Babin highlighted his visit to the Houston Ship Channel with Houston Pilots and Representative Mike Collins, remarking on the progress of the port’s operations. He acknowledged the pilots’ longstanding commitment, stating: “Toured the Houston Ship Channel with the @HoustonPilots and @RepMikeCollins to see progress at the nation’s busiest port. Grateful for the Pilots’ century of service and safe navigation in Upper Galveston Bay!”
On the same day, Babin attended the Future of Texas Series hosted by the Greater Houston Partnership where he discussed key priorities in his capacity as Chair of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. He shared support for the relocation of NASA headquarters and mentioned advancements in tax, tariffs, and space policy: “Thanks to @GHPartnership for hosting me for the Future of Texas Series. I shared priorities as @HouseScienceGOP Chair, support for relocating NASA HQ to JSC, and updates on tax, tariffs, and space policy.”
Babin, who was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1948 and holds a BS from Lamar University, lives in Woodville. He has been actively serving his district and was first elected to Congress in 2015, succeeding Steve Stockman.
