U.S. Representative Ed Case, who serves Hawaii’s 1st district in Congress, has recently addressed several topics through his official social media account, including the deployment of the National Guard for local law enforcement, constituent services regarding federal issues, and the significance of the Mauna Loa Observatory.
On August 27, 2025, Case stated his position on National Guard deployments and federal law enforcement assistance: “Our National Guard should not be deployed for local law enforcement except in true emergencies. Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st district since replacing Colleen Hanabusa in Congress in 2019 and previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe at age 70, he holds degrees from Williams College (BA) and UC Hastings (JD).
