U.S. Representative Ed Case, who serves Hawaii’s 1st district in Congress, recently addressed several issues on his official Twitter account, including the rule of law, the ongoing government shutdown, and reflections on leadership both in Hawaii and abroad.
On September 30, 2025, Case highlighted the importance of foundational legal principles in American democracy. He wrote: “The rule of law is not about policies and personalities but about the foundations of our country. Hawai’i State Senator Karl Rhoads, one of our best, has been leading informational briefings of the Senate Judiciary Committee he chairs on the Trump administration’s erosion of the”.
The following day, October 1, 2025, Case expressed frustration regarding a federal government shutdown. He stated: “This shutdown is beyond deeply disappointing; it is disgusting. This was completely avoidable, and passing the necessary bipartisan legislation remains completely doable. Here’s my districtwide e-newsletter on what is happening, why, and who and what is affected, and answering”.
On October 2, 2025, Case reflected on positive developments amid national discord. He posted: “Amidst so much discord, I’m reflecting on two rays of hope: 1) Hawai’i Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald, just retired, whose career was marked by the consistent, diligent and loyal discharge of his oath of office and love of our Hawai’i; and 2) the people of Moldova,”.
Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st district since replacing Colleen Hanabusa in Congress in 2019. Before serving in Congress at the federal level starting in 2019,
he was a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002.
Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe,
