U.S. Representative Ed Case, who serves Hawaii’s 1st district, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing federal funding decisions, local heritage, and calls for transparency in high-profile criminal cases.
On September 6, 2025, Case commented on his role in the Appropriations Committee’s Fiscal Year 2026 Financial Services and General Government measure. He wrote, “Altho my Appropriations Committee included several of my requests in our Fiscal Year 2026 Financial Services and General Government measure, the tenth of our twelve annual federal funding bills, I couldn’t finally vote for it because it slashed support for our small businesses.”
The following day, September 7, Case highlighted Hawaii’s Spanish heritage and community events. In his post he stated: “Our rich ethnic heritage includes the legacy of Don Francisco de Paula y Marin as well as descendants of some 8,000 original immigrants from Spain in the late 19th/early 20th century. Congrats to our Spanish Hawaiian Heritage Assn on your Inaugural International Academic &”
On September 8, Case addressed issues surrounding the crimes associated with Jeffrey Epstein. He posted: “Only full transparency on the tragic crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and his associates will deliver full accountability to their perpetrators and some justice to their victims. I signed the discharge petition to force a full House vote on a resolution to compel the Justice Department”
Ed Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st district in Congress since 2019 after replacing Colleen Hanabusa. Prior to this role, he served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe, Case graduated from Williams College with a BA before earning his JD from the University of California, Hastings.
