Rep. Ed Case, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Hawaii’s 1st district, shared his views on a range of issues through social media posts in February 2025. His comments touched upon fiscal policy, international relations, and labor rights.
On February 18, 2025, Rep. Case discussed federal budgeting practices. He stated that “Basic family budgeting: must include interest payments on any borrowings as expenses. But Congress doesn’t do that for proposed federal spending financed by government borrowings, while interest on our national debt is now our largest single expense except for Social Security…“
The following day, February 19, 2025, Rep. Case met with Jerry Chang, the incoming Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Honolulu. He emphasized their discussion about “our U.S.-Taiwan mutual commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, partnerships in assisting the Pacific Islands, and strengthening our longstanding Hawai’i-Taiwan ties.“
On February 20, 2025, Rep. Case hosted his annual Labor Roundtable with representatives from Hawaii’s union members to address workforce rights under federal law. He noted that “we focused on the Trump administration’s broad offensive against federal laws, regulations, programs and funding that advance union and nonunion workforce rights and protections,…“
