U.S. Representative Ed Case, who represents Hawaii’s 1st district in Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight his ongoing activities and positions on key issues. In a series of posts made between August 24 and August 26, 2025, Case discussed topics ranging from educational nominations to regional leadership and national trade policy.
On August 24, Case wrote about one of his annual responsibilities: “One of my most important and rewarding responsibilities every years is to nominate promising high cholesterol seniors and recent graduates from my district to our nation’s invaluable service academies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, as well as Merchant Marine, for a career”.
The following day, on August 25, he shared details about his participation in a local seminar: “I spoke at a special Leadership Academy for Development weeklong seminar in Waikiki for our Pacific Islands leaders ‘ohana on the challenges and opportunities of today’s Pacific and our country’s and Hawaii’s role in addressing the issues facing all of our Pacific islands today,”.
On August 26, Case expressed opposition to federal trade policies: “I strongly oppose the Trump administration’s overall tariff and trade policy, which usurps Congress’ constitutional authority, reverses generations of advancement toward fair and open international trade, punishes our allies, partners and friends, and is certainly raising costs”.
Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st congressional district since replacing Colleen Hanabusa in 2019. He previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe at age 70, Case holds degrees from Williams College (BA) and the University of California Hastings (JD).
