Ed Case highlights Coast Guard bill passage and issues tsunami warning for Hawai’i

U.S. Representative Ed Case, who serves Hawaii’s 1st district, used his social media platform this week to inform constituents about legislative developments, emergency updates, and community engagement efforts.

On July 28, 2025, Case shared a recent television appearance: “Here’s my interview on KHON/Wake Up Today this am on staying connected thru my upcoming Tele-Talk Story and my most recent Walk Story, plus FEMA/federal disaster assistance, releasing Epstein info, and rebuilding Maui.”

The following day, July 29, he announced progress on a bipartisan legislative initiative: “Most of my Pacific Ready Coast Guard Act, which I introduced with my colleague Congressman Trent Kelly (R-Mississippi), just passed the full House. Our measure will expand the invaluable Coast Guard’s presence and readiness both in Hawai’i and throughout the Pacific. More here:”

On July 30, Case issued an urgent warning regarding a natural disaster: “URGENT: Hawai’i is under a tsunami warning. It is too early to know more, but first wave arrival is estimated at 7:10PM. All shores and tsunami inundation zones are at risk. Here are the zones and more info from Hawaii Emergency Management: https://t.co/fjow28pz8p. Sirens just”

Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st congressional district since 2019 after succeeding Colleen Hanabusa. He previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe, Case holds degrees from Williams College and the University of California, Hastings.
