Rep. Ed Case, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Hawaii’s 1st district since 2019, has been actively sharing updates on his legislative activities through social media. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, and currently residing in Kāneʻohe, Case has a long history of public service, having previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002.

On May 16, 2025, Rep. Ed Case highlighted his focus during the Appropriations Committee season for the Fiscal Year ‘26 budget. In a recent Department of Homeland Security hearing, he emphasized the importance of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), describing it as “a lesser-known but invaluable part of our national security team.” “As my Appropriations Committee season on our Fiscal Year ‘26 budget continues in earnest, I focused in our latest Department of Homeland Security hearing on Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a lesser-known but invaluable part of our national security team.”

On May 17, 2025, Rep. Case provided an update directed at Hawaii’s veterans and their families (‘ohana). He assured them that assistance is available for any veterans’ issues and shared contact information for support: “Here’s my latest report from Capitol Hill to our Hawaii’s 110,000-plus veterans and ‘ohana. We’re here to assist with any veterans issues: https://t.co/SKyQcOkTsf or (808)650-6688.”

The following day, May 18, 2025, Rep. Case addressed energy costs affecting non-continental parts of the United States. He pointed out that these regions face high energy expenses partly due to monopolies created by the Jones Act impacting oil and gas shipping import charges. Alongside colleagues Ritchie Torres from New York and Jim Moylan from Guam, he introduced legislation aimed at exempting energy sectors from this act: “The non-Continent parts of our country have the highest energy costs nationwide… I joined colleagues Ritchie Torres of New York and Jim Moylan of Guam on legislation to exempt energy.”

Ed Case graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1975 and earned a JD from the University of California Hastings in 1981.
