U.S. Representative Ed Case, who serves Hawaii’s 1st district in Congress, recently posted a series of updates on social media covering topics from emergency response to economic policy and workforce development.
On July 30, 2025, Case expressed gratitude following the end of a tsunami advisory in Hawaii. He wrote, “The tsunami advisory has ended . A huge mahalo to everyone from our Governor and Mayors and their emergency management team, our state and county employees, our federal and community partners and so many others throughout our ‘ohana for getting us all thru this very real tsunami”.
Two days later, on August 1, 2025, Case addressed the cost of living in Hawaii by highlighting efforts to reform the Jones Act. He stated, “Cost of living? Jones Act reform to reduce outrageous monopoly shipping prices that we all pay for everything coming into Hawai’i. Congressman Jim Moylan (R-Guam) and I just introduced our fourth reform bill, this one to shift Jones Act ship parts manufacture and ship repair from”.
On August 2, 2025, Case attended a ceremony at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF Trades Graduation Ceremony. He posted: “No Ka Oi! I again joined our Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF Trades Graduation Ceremony to recognize the next generation of professionals who live and breath their motto of “We Keep Them Fit To Fight”. This is 101 years and more than 6,600 local graduates since PHNS’ first”.
Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st district in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Colleen Hanabusa. Before his current role in Congress, he served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe, Case holds degrees from Williams College (BA) and the University of California Hastings (JD).
