Rep. Ed Case, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress, representing Hawaii’s 1st district since 2019, actively engages in various legislative activities and community interactions. With a professional life originating back to his time in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002, Case recently shared a series of posts on social media highlighting his current endeavors.
On April 8, 2025, Rep. Case announced the introduction of his new bill, the Indigenous Diplomacy and Education Act. Through a tweet, he stated, “We must not step away from the international stage; rather we should lead efforts for meaningful engagement wherever and however we can.” This legislation recognizes approximately 476 million indigenous people worldwide.
A day later, on April 9, 2025, Case met with Representative Kimberlyn King-Hinds from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, a fellow alumnus of the University of Hawai’i Richardson Law School. In his tweet, Case noted “The islands hang together in Congress.” He emphasized their shared educational background and professional experiences in Hawaii.
On April 10, 2025, Case engaged in the health advocacy campaign #TurnTheHillTurquoise. He met with Keely Luke Kim, a lung cancer survivor from Honolulu, and representatives from the American Lung Association/Hawai’i. Their discussions focused on the importance of lung health and the need for sufficient federal research and treatment funding.
Ed Case, now residing in Kāneʻohe, has spent years shaping his career both in law and politics. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, in 1952, he graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1975, and later obtained a JD from the University of California, Hastings in 1981.
