Janis Holt, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent Texas’s 18th House district, has used her social media platform to comment on recent legislative developments and party disputes within the Texas State Legislature.
On September 2, 2025, Holt addressed the outcome of property tax legislation in the Texas House. She stated, “SB10 report, masquerading as property tax relief, failed to be adopted in the TX House. The Senate stripped out the House amendments which made it stronger. It appears that the bill has now died. #txlege https://t.co/mE2bcLlcOJ”.
Two days later, on September 4, Holt criticized Democratic lawmakers for their actions during the session. She wrote, “The democrats are getting away with running away from their duties. We demand that they be held accountable for their quorum break. #txlege https://t.co/FNC1za1E8L”.
Later that same day, Holt followed up with another post expressing frustration about legislative procedures: “Texans. We tried. We were not given the opportunity to punish the democrats. https://t.co/1qZLOLbAgb https://t.co/TlMUfGXXQB”.
Holt succeeded Ernest Bailes as state representative for District 18 after being elected in 2025.
