Janis Holt, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 18th district since 2025, has posted a series of statements on social media regarding recent legislative actions and Democratic lawmakers’ absences.
On August 12, 2025, Holt wrote, “The Democrats did not show up again today. The behavior will not go unpunished. Governor @GregAbbott_TX has called a second special session beginning in Friday. Stay tuned. There is a plan. #txlege https://t.co/DAejqPQv00”
Continuing her criticism the following day, August 13, she stated, “Whether the Democrats come back this week, next week or next month, we must fine them, remove their seniority, remove them from their committee positions and ensure that this kind of chicanery never happens again. #txlege”
Later that evening on August 14, Holt added another post: “Then there is this. We will react accordingly. https://t.co/uO9BpwRvhF”
Holt was elected to represent Texas’s 18th House district in 2025 after succeeding Ernest Bailes as state representative. Her recent posts reflect ongoing tensions in the Texas legislature related to party attendance and procedural disputes.
