Janis Holt, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent Texas’s 18th House district, has used her social media platform to comment on recent actions by Democratic lawmakers in the state.

On August 4, 2025, Holt criticized members of the opposing party by posting, “The Texas Democrats’ hyperbolic drama is so over the top, it’s laughable. 3:00pm can’t get here fast enough.”

Later that same day, she addressed the issue of Democratic legislators breaking quorum. In her post, she stated, “Democrats have chosen to break quorum and neglect their duties to their constituents…once again. I’m grateful to Governor Abbott for taking a strong stand and have already signed on to a “call of the House” to have the House Sergeants arrest and bring back the Democrats. Time to”

Two days later, on August 6, Holt reflected on her campaign promises and ongoing work as a legislator: “I promised you that if you elected me, I would fight for our conservative values. I kept my promises and look forward to continuing to represent you in the Texas House.”

Holt assumed office in early 2025 after winning election to replace Ernest Bailes as representative for Texas’s 18th House district.
