Jodey Arrington, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 19th district since 2017, has been vocal about fiscal issues through his social media presence. Born in Plainview, Texas in 1972 and currently residing in Lubbock, Arrington graduated from Texas Tech University in 1994 with a BA. His recent posts on May 7, 2025, address concerns regarding the nation’s financial stability and government spending.

In a tweet posted at 15:23 UTC on May 7, Arrington highlighted remarks by Paul Winfree, President & CEO of EPIC for America. He quoted Winfree stating that “America’s fiscal position is now so fragile that unless Congress acts decisively, we will collide with a self-inflicted debt spiral well within most of our careers and certainly within our lifetimes.”

Later that day at 15:35 UTC, Arrington expressed support for former President Trump’s policies. He noted that “President Trump’s America First agenda is not just tax cuts, border and defense funding, deregulation and unleashing American energy production,” but also emphasized the importance of controlling excessive government spending to prevent national bankruptcy.

In another post at 15:47 UTC on the same day, Arrington addressed current legislative efforts concerning fiscal responsibility. He stated that “There is no better time than the present to cut spending or pursue deficit reduction.” He referenced proposed spending cuts amounting to $1.5 trillion over a decade as part of the House reconciliation bill but pointed out these cuts only represent 0.4% of GDP.
