Rep. Jodey Arrington, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 19th district since 2017, has recently shared his views on taxation and nuclear waste disposal through a series of tweets. Born in Plainview, Texas, Arrington currently resides in Lubbock and is an alumnus of Texas Tech University.

On January 24, 2025, Rep. Arrington expressed his opposition to the estate tax, commonly referred to as the “Death Tax.” He described it as “an unfair double tax that could force the next generation to sell their family business – on which they’ve paid a lifetime of taxes – to pay another tax simply because of a family member’s passing.” The congressman emphasized that this penalizes Americans who have dedicated their lives to building businesses. “The Death Tax is an unfair double tax that could force the next generation to sell their family business – on which they’ve paid a lifetime of taxes – to pay another tax simply because of a family member’s passing.”

On January 25, 2025, Arrington highlighted efforts alongside Senator Ted Cruz to prevent nuclear waste dumping in oil-rich areas of Texas. In his tweet, he referenced media coverage stating: “ICYMI: ‘Arrington, Cruz spearhead effort to derail nuclear waste dumping in oil-rich area of Texas'”.

In another post from the same day, Arrington reiterated his stance against federal imposition regarding nuclear waste management in West Texas. He criticized Washington’s approach towards temporary disposal due to unresolved permanent storage solutions by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission: “I will not allow Washington to impose its will on West Texas regarding the temporary disposal of high-level nuclear waste simply because the Nuclear Regulatory Commission can’t — or won’t — finalize permanent storage elsewhere.”
