Rep. Ed Case, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Hawaii’s 1st district, has been vocal on several pressing issues through his recent social media posts. Case, who succeeded Colleen Hanabusa in 2019 and previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002, addressed topics ranging from public education challenges to federal resource allocation.
On May 4, 2025, Rep. Ed Case tweeted about his meeting with Hawai’i State Teachers Association President Osa Tui Jr. and HSTA’s National Education Association Director Aaron Kubo. The discussion centered on “the severe challenges facing Hawai’i public education from the Trump administration’s attacks on the U.S. Dept of Education and federal education, school lunch.”
The following day, May 5, 2025, Rep. Ed Case expressed concerns over fiscal policies in a tweet. He questioned whether his congressional Republican colleagues would act as “separate, independent, co-equal check and balance or autopilot follower” amid efforts by the Trump administration to “slash resources like Medicaid for those who most need help to deliver tax cuts to those who least need.”
On May 6, 2025, Rep. Ed Case provided an update on a hearing he attended as part of his role in the Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Homeland Security. In a tweet, he mentioned participating in discussions with Secretary Noem concerning critical areas such as border security, cybersecurity, transportation security, disaster mitigation and response.
Born in Hilo, Hawaii in 1952 and residing in Kāneʻohe at age 70, Case graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1975 and earned a JD from the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1981.
