Rep. Ed Case, U.S. Congressman representing Hawaii’s 1st district, has recently used his social media platform to address both the recognition of Filipino American History Month and ongoing concerns about a federal government shutdown.

On October 6, 2025, Case posted: “RESOLVED, that the House of Representatives recognizes the celebration of Filipino American History Month as a testament to the advancement of Filipino Americans …” As the Member of Congress proudly representing more Fil Ams than any other Congressional district in the country.

The following day, on October 7, 2025, he criticized House Republican leadership for canceling votes amid a federal shutdown: “Inexcusable that House Republican leadership cancelled votes this week instead of calling us all back to DC to forge the bipartisan solution necessary to end the federal shutdown. With my unexpected time home, I hit the road again for more Walk Stories through my communities,”.

On October 8, 2025, Case continued his criticism regarding congressional inaction: “While we waited still another day for House Republican leadership to quit avoiding calling us back to DC for votes on the necessary bipartisan solution to ending the government shutdown and on opening the Jeffrey Epstein files. I did another day of my Walk Story Round 3, walking”.

Ed Case has represented Hawaii’s 1st District in Congress since 2019 after replacing Colleen Hanabusa. He previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe, Case holds degrees from Williams College and UC Hastings Law School.
