Ed Case, a U.S. Congressman representing Hawaii’s 1st district since 2019, has been actively engaging with his constituents and colleagues through various events and initiatives. Born in Hilo, Hawaii in 1952, Case has a longstanding history of public service including previous terms in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002.
On June 7, 2025, Case expressed his anticipation for the annual visit by the Hawai’i Association of Realtors to Capitol Hill. He noted that these meetings are valuable not only for discussions on expanding housing availability and affordability but also for their advocacy on broader community concerns. “I especially look forward to the Hawai’i Association of Realtors Capitol Hill visit every year not only for the clear discussions on how best to expand housing availability and affordability throughout Hawai’i but because of their full advocacy of broader community concerns.”
The following day, June 8, Case shared insights into an annual retreat held with his staff from both Washington D.C. and Honolulu. The retreat is designed to ensure that his team remains current and focused on their objectives. He emphasized the importance of this teamwork in fulfilling his responsibilities as a congressman: “I had my DC and Honolulu staffs with me on our annual Capitol Hill retreat this weekend for us all to stay current, connected, focused and always improving. Couldn’t do the job without them; mahalo!”
On June 9, Case hosted the Kamehameha Lei Draping Ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, an event sponsored by both the Hawai’i State Society of Washington D.C., and Ke Ali’i Maka’ainana Hawaiian Civic Club of Washington D.C. This ceremony celebrates Hawaiian culture and traditions within a significant national context: “I was very honored to host our annual Kamehameha Lei Draping Ceremony sponsored by the Hawai’i State Society of Washington, D.C. and the Ke Ali’i Maka’ainana Hawaiian Civic Club of Washington, D.C. at Kamehameha’s beautiful state in our U.S. Capitol.”
