Rep. Ed Case, U.S. Congressman representing Hawaii’s 1st district since 2019, has shared updates on recent legislative actions and community events through a series of posts on social media.

On July 25, 2025, Rep. Case addressed his opposition to a proposed foreign policy bill in the Appropriations Committee, stating: “In Appropriations I opposed the proposed foreign policy bill, calling its overall slashing of foreign assistance and disengagement from the world a gift to the Chinese Communist Party, although the measure did include key provisions I requested for Hawai’i such as $16.7 million”.

The following day, July 26, Rep. Case reflected on his participation in a military event: “As the United States Marine Corps approaches its 250th birthday this November, I was deeply honored to serve as Guest of Honor at the Corps’ amazing and inspirational sunset parade with the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and Silent Drill Platoon at the Marine Corps War (Iwo Jima)”.

On July 27, he shared an update with constituents regarding his ongoing work: “Here’s my most recent districtwide e-newsletter, ‘Midyear Report’, updating my recent work in Congress especially on my Appropriations Committee, highlighting recent constituent service successes, recapping my Walk Story #2, and reminding on my upcoming July 29th Tele-Talk Story”.

Rep. Case succeeded Colleen Hanabusa in representing Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District beginning in 2019. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe at age 70, Case holds degrees from Williams College (BA) and UC Hastings (JD).
