Rep. Ed Case, U.S. Congressman representing Hawaii’s 1st district since 2019, has used his social media platform to update constituents on federal shutdown developments and resources available to those affected.
On October 3, 2025, Case posted a summary of a recent tele-town hall: “Here’s a replay of my live districtwide Tele-Talk Story last nite discussing ending the shutdown, curbing the administration, reducing the cost of living, advancing appropriations, countering the PRC, preserving the social safety net, protecting our environment and other”. The post outlined key topics addressed during the event.
The following day, October 4, Case shared a brief message containing only a link: “https://t.co/81jyYOgYFw”.
On October 5, he highlighted support options for residents affected by the ongoing federal shutdown: “If you’re one of some 877,000 members of Hawaii’s 45 credit unions statewide and are financially affected by the federal shutdown, your credit unions want you to know that they offer special assistance and please contact your credit union for possible help. https://t.co/ShvvLnMfJT”.
Case has served as Hawaii’s representative in Congress since replacing Colleen Hanabusa in 2019. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002. Born in Hilo in 1952 and currently residing in Kāneʻohe at age 70, Case holds degrees from Williams College and UC Hastings.
