The Deer Park City Council has moved its upcoming election date from May 2 to Nov. 3, and will allow residents to vote remotely.

Council moved the dates to help combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. By voting remotely, residents will be less likely to contract the virus.

The City Council will meet April 13 at 7:30 p.m. to further discuss the details. The meeting will be held at Council Chambers, 710 E. San Augustine St. However, Deer Park officials are restricting how many people can attend the meeting. Officials add that citizens can listen live through WebEx.

To access the meeting live, residents can call 844-992-4726 and punch in the access code 965 398 645. To address the Council, residents have to call in before the 7:25 p.m. deadline. The resident will then have five minutes to make statements.
