Brian Babin, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 36th District since 2015, recently made a series of statements expressing his views on national security, trade, and law enforcement. Babin, who was born in Port Arthur, Texas, in 1948 and currently resides in Woodville, took to the online platform "X" to voice these opinions.
On April 9, 2025, Babin highlighted the intended purpose of the United States' Strategic Petroleum Reserve, stating, "Our Strategic Petroleum Reserve is for emergencies, NOT for propping up Communist China." He further endorsed a legislative initiative by Representative Randy Weber, declaring that the bill would fortify national security and ensure energy independence.
Later that day, Babin addressed trade policies in connection with the U.S.'s stance in global negotiations. He tweeted, "The message is loud and clear: President Trump is ready to negotiate, but he won’t settle for a bad deal." Babin emphasized the principle of "America First" in international commerce, signaling robust expectations for trade partners.
Recognizing the efforts of law enforcement, Babin commended the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other officials for preventing the distribution of illegal narcotics. On the same day, he tweeted, "Congrats @CBP and all the federal, state, and local officials involved in stopping over 1 million fentanyl pills, and other deadly drugs, from hitting our streets." He noted the lifesaving impact of their actions.
Brian Babin has been a strong voice in Congress, from where he replaced Steve Stockman. With a background in political service and as a graduate of Lamar University, he continues to address critical issues related to both domestic and foreign policies.
